Governor Carcieri Visits A2B Tracking Solutions, Inc.
PORTSMOUTH, RI (November 30, 2007) – Rhode Island Governor Donald L.
Carcieri recently visited the Portsmouth offices of A2B Tracking
Solutions Inc. Arranged by the Rhode Island Economic Development
Corporation (RIEDC), the governor’s visit spotlighted A2B as a Rhode
Island business that drive the state’s growing economy by making
innovation a priority.
A2B, a U.S. leader in software for bar code tracking systems in organizations such as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and United Parcel Service (UPS), aims to make life easier for business and government. The company found early success in 1994 with the development of label-generating software for retail giants K-Mart and Wal-Mart.
Since 1994 A2B Tracking Solutions has become a leader in moving the bar code industry into mobile computing. To date, the company has completed more than 2,000 tracking installations around the world. Most recent efforts have focused on supporting the Department of Defense (DoD) unique identification (UID) mandate. This law requires all DoD owned property, located at military installations and DoD contractors around the world, and all newly acquired property, to be labeled with a unique bar code and the information to be stored in a central UID Registry maintained by the military.
