Product Manager Jim Daniels says UC! Web satisfies the need for military and commercial enterprise-wide IUID data management software that is accessible through a web-browser. “This is a huge step forward,” he noted. “Although A2B has been certified to operate inside the most stringent military firewalls, this web-based software eliminates the need for ongoing military IT certifications to operate the software within the military’s networks.”

UC! Web enables full IUID data management by leveraging all the functionality of the best selling UID Comply! client-server software. As a true web application, each location or division within an enterprise has access to the same data, without the IT overhead or network impact.

Functionality includes the creating, printing to MIL STD 130 and registering of IUIDs. UC! Web also manages IUID transactions such as attaching an IUID to an item, embedded item reporting, part rollover, and other IUID lifecycle events required by the IUID Registry. It also provides access to IUID Registry APIs, to allow for pre-creation checks and post registration confirmation to eliminate duplication and ensure proper registration.

New UID Quarterly Newsletter by A2B Tracking Announced

Portsmouth, RI - (June 20, 2005) - A2B Tracking Solutions of Portsmouth, RI is announcing an electronic newsletter, UID Quarterly. With a first issue scheduled for June 28, UID Quarterly is intended to educate and support the Department of Defense and DoD contractors and suppliers who must comply with the DoD unique identification (UID) mandate. UID enables the DoD to identify and track tangible assets individually from cradle-to-grave. UID program manager LeAntha Sumpter currently spearheads this accountability effort, which was first advocated by the General Accounting Office (GAO).

The UID Quarterly will focus on education according to editor Joan Hacker, with regular case studies of companies that have achieved successful UID implementation. In the inaugural issue Titan Corporation’s AP&D Division will be highlighted. In Opinion, a regular guest interview with an individual in the forefront of the UID movement, Marsha Campbell, Sr. Manager, Asset Management at Deloitte is interviewed on the role of the property manager in UID implementation.

Other regular features will include announcements and policy updates from the UID Policy Office as well as a guest column, Vendor’s Corner, written by vendors and experts from the scanning, verifying, marking, and labeling communities. A2B’s UID Comply!™ provides contractors with everything they need to comply

PORTSMOUTH, RI – (December 22, 2004) - A2B Tracking Solutions, Inc., the leading provider of total solutions for bar code tracking, announces the release of UID Comply!™. This turnkey package, which includes UID compliant labeling software and a mobile computer with integrated scanner, is the leading solution package offered in direct response to the Department of Defense (DoD) UID (unique identification) mandate, which goes into effect Jan 1, 2005.

In order for any and all contractors to do business with the military after January 1, 2005, they must follow the new label compliance guidelines. The purpose of the UID mandate is to achieve visibility of all assets for continuous reporting to the military’s Wide Area Work Flow system.

Sniffen has been named UID Business Development Sales Engineer. Among the senior management roles he held during fifteen years at Verizon/MCI in Richardson, TX, Mr. Sniffen was Senior Manager of Asset Identification, Asset Management and Tracking. Property managers and others responsible for UID identification of government property in their possession will appreciate the capabilities added in this product update.

Among the new features is additional harvest capability which leverages bar code scanning to support receipt of pre-marked GFP. There is also increased ability to update UID transaction reporting for required trigger events such as contract reassignment, return to government and mark history. PORTSMOUTH, RI (July 24, 2009) – The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) has granted A2B Tracking Solutions Inc. a blanket purchase agreement (BPA) for up to $4 million in support of a GSA contract announced late last year on behalf of the US Air Force. The earlier, five-year contract, worth up to $70 million, calls for delivery of some 10 million item unique identification (IUID) Data Matrix bar code labels and plates to Air Force installations around the world.

“This blanket purchase agreement enables A2B to provide further services that will boost a robust roll-out of IUID within the Air Force,” says A2B Chief Operations Officer, Tim Collins. “Early stage preparation and fulfillment has gone smoothly, with other military services showing interest in the Air Force model.”

IUID (item unique identification) is Department of Defense (DoD) policy requiring all assets owned by DoD, including assets in the possession of contractors, to be marked with a unique serialized identification number in accordance with MIL STD 130. PORTSMOUTH, RI (May 19, 2009) - A2B Tracking Solutions learned today that it has been awarded a one-year contract for up to $2.5 million from the Marine Corps System Command (MCSC) Operational Forces Systems (OFS). Under the contract A2B is to provide the US Marine Corps (USMC) with IUID integrated marking carts in order to meet the Department of Defense (DoD) IUID requirement to mark all legacy equipment by 31 December 2010.

Congressman Patrick Kennedy (D-RI) said, “A2B’s announcement today is fantastic news for Portsmouth and Rhode Island. With the IUID initiative, DoD intends that all its assets will become visible through a central IUID Registry. In addition to eliminating waste in government, the IUID Registry system will enable defense staff to quickly locate equipment and parts and analyze the data to determine the effectiveness of a piece of equipment or its various components, ultimately helping to identify and resolve issues. This might include locating the nearest part to fix a particular piece of equipment on a tank in the field or determining whether the manufacturing specifications for a particular component need to be modified.

This latest release, which is MIL-STD-130 and schema 3.4 compliant, gives custodians of GFP the ability to register life cycle events. UID Comply! ® v1.8.1.1 for End Item Deliverables

According to Product Manager Jim Daniels, UID Comply!® v 1.8.1.1 for End Item Deliverables, which is Schema 3.4 compliant, is now fully integrated with Seagull Scientific’s Bartender® software, a top design application for creating MIL STD 130 labels with bar codes. Users select their UIDs and the correct label and then click Print for one-touch printing of any custom label, in seconds. "This integration makes the management and creation of MIL STD 130 labels truly simple," says Daniels.

Another enhanced feature of UID Comply! v1.8.1.1 is that embedded item relationships can be imported along with pedigree data and UIDs. This allows users to accept files from sub contractors and import the already established relationships into their system, thus assigning data to the prime contractors acquisition data.

In addition, UID Comply! V1.8.1.1 now enables UID construct 2 creation using batch/lot numbers in addition to part numbers. UID construct 2 is a combination of enterprise ID, part number or batch/lot number and serial number. The Department of Defense has mandated policy (2004) requiring all assets and personal property owned by the DoD, including assets in the possession of contractors, and assets (including military-issued weapons) in use in the field, to be marked with a unique serialized identification number in accordance with MIL STD 130. This military standard incorporates a 2 dimensional bar code that enables highly accurate data capture using scanners and computers for inventory control and tracking that is similar to technology that has been used in retail and grocery industries for decades.

A2B President Peter Collins says, “In many instances deadlines have not been met, thereby delaying the intent of the mandate, “cradle to grave” tracking of all assets and weaponry. Deadlines for UID compliance are as follows:

January 1, 2004 – All new DoD contracts for newly manufactured items that call out MIL STD 130 should require bar code serialized item identification.

PORTSMOUTH, RI – (November 9, 2005) – In response to the Department of Defense (DoD) unique identification (UID) mandate, A2B Tracking Solutions Inc., developer of the UID Comply!™ complete UID lifecycle management system, has introduced UID Comply! Validator™ an economical, UID compliance solution for smaller businesses. UID Comply! Validator™ software and hardware enables scanning and interpreting of Data Matrix bar codes, marks and tags that meet MIL STD 130L, and then electronic transmitting of valid compliance data to the WAWF (wide area workflow) and UID Registry websites.

“We have been asked to respond to the need of smaller DoD contractors who may not require the full range of compliance steps available in UID Comply,” says Robert Carpenter, A2Bs Director of Technology. The result is UID Comply! Validator, which enables plug and play scanners to capture and validate 2D Data Matrix bar codes, converting of that data into concatenated human readable UIDs and transmitting of the data to the WAWF and UID Registry website as required by the mandate.
